I made this fabulous cake. My husband ordered half of it be given away so that we didn’t eat up all those ooey gooey calories.

And finally, I want to make an apple pie filling for the freezer to be used on one of those cold days coming up.
I love to cook. I love my CSA (community supported agriculture). As The Purple Cook I’ll share with you how our family uses the food we got from our CSA and other local sources. The blog will share recipes, storage tips, and stories of what happens to that food from pick up to kitchen clean up. A CSA can be fun, adventurous, and surprising. I haven't frozen an apple pie filling yet. But when I do I'll use the same filling recipe, put the filling in a plastic wrapped pie plate to freeze into the correct shape. When it comes time to bake, I'll just slip the frozen filling between two pie crusts and bake from frozen. I use the same concept on Blackberry Pie No. 2 in August. Can't wait to try it.
ReplyDeletei posted a recipe for apple & pear crisp…and reposted a recipe from a couple of years ago… roasted apple and caramelized onion au gratin soup , which has become a favorite in our home…
